Pet wellness exams in Indianapolis IN

Wellness Exams

AnnualĀ and semi-annual pet wellness exams are very important and allow your veterinarian to evaluate your pets external and internal health, along with preventing disease in the future. We keep track of what vaccines your pet is due for and can help you choose preventative products for fleas, ticks, heartworms, and parasites. At your wellness exam we will address any questions or concerns that you have about your pet’s health, behavior, and well being. Our clinic staff can also provide services such as nail trims, cleaning ears, or expressing anal glands when needed.

Many vaccines are available for use in dogs and cats, but not every pet needs every vaccine.

Some vaccines are considered core vaccines and should be administered to all pets, whereas other vaccines are optional and may be recommended for pets based on a variety of factors, such as their risk for exposure to disease. Vaccine recommendations can also change throughout a pet’s life, as travel habits and other variables change. Our doctors will make recommendations on the number and types of vaccines to be given based on you and your pet’s overall needs.  We have a number of personalized options available, including the 3-year rabies vaccines, the 3-year feline and canine distemper vaccines, and the complete 4-way leptospirosis vaccine.

Vaccinations are safe and effective

While reactions to vaccinations do happen very rarely, the risk of dangerous diseases like feline leukemia and parvovirus  is a much greater threat for the unvaccinated pet.   We only use feline vaccines that are approved by the American Association of Feline Practitioners.  These vaccines have been specially tested and approved for use in cats.  We and the makers of the vaccines stand behind the safety of all our vaccines.

Vaccines help pets live longer, healthier lives. Protecting your pet is our primary goal, so developing an appropriate vaccine schedule for your pet is important to us. Call us today to set up an appointment to discuss your pet’s vaccination needs.
